FAQ - FL Sports Betting Bonuses

Is online betting legal in Florida?

Yes, online sports betting is legal in Florida, but extremely limited. A compact has been made between the state and the Seminole tribe, who owns the Hard Rock Bet sportsbook, allowing them to offer their app in Florida. At the moment, no other sportsbooks are available in the state.

Are online casinos legal in Florida?

No, real-money online casinos are not legal in Florida. It is however possible to play at sweepstakes and social casinos.

What's the legal gambling age in Florida?

21+ for sports betting and casino, both in person and online. Bingo, lotteries, poker and horse racing is allowed from 18+. Social sportsbooks, sweepstakes casinos, prediction markets and DFS is allowed from 18+ as well.

Can I only bet at Hard Rock in Florida?

While there is only one licensed real-money sportsbook available online in Florida (Hard Rock), there are several more options to scratch that betting itch.

  • Social sportsbooks operating under the sweepstakes model offers a free-to-play simulated sportsbook experience with a chance to win real money.
  • Daily Fantasy and Pick'em are considered games of skill, and lets players draft their own team to win real money in paid contests.
  • Prediction Markets offer Yes/No predictions on real life events, in a way that many consider similar to betting. Stakes are all real money.
Is Hard Rock Bet owned by the Seminole?

Yes. The Seminole Tribe of Florida is the only native tribe in the United States that owns a major casino and betting brand. Hard Rock Bet and Casino from Florida is available in 10+ states, making it one of the more known and trusted brands in the country.

Does Florida not have gambling taxes?

No. Florida is one of the few states that don't have a state income tax, which means that winnings from gambling is not taxed by the state. The IRS does however consider gambling winnings taxable income, which needs to be reported on the federal tax return.

Non-residents must submit their gambling winnings through the form 1040-NR. They are taxed on a federal level, but not by Florida. Non-residents might still be required to tax their winnings in their home-state.
