Sportsbook Profit Boosts

How Do I Use Odds Boosts & Profit Boosts?

Activating and placing a boosted bet on a U.S. sportsbook depends on if you've claimed a Pre-Packaged Odds Boost or a Profit Boost Token (PBT).

For Pre-Packaged Odds Boosts, first locate the Boost, normally in the sportsbook, Promotions tab or a Boosted Odds tab. Tap the Claim button, enter your stake and lock it in.

For Profit Boost Tokens, you need to manually apply a token to your betslip. Head on to the Promos or Rewards tab, claim your token, build a qualifying bet and toggle the Boost ON in the betslip before locking in the wager.

Odds Boost Types & Terminology

When visiting a sportsbook, bettors will quickly notice that there are different types of Odds Boosts. It's not just the names that differ, the functionality can vary a lot, making some types more or less fitting for certain players. Here are the most common types of Boosts:

Odds Boosts
A "pre-packaged" deal with enhanced odds from the sportsbook, improving the potential payout from a wager by boosting the odds. The game, market, and maximum wager is fixed, leaving the player little flexibility.

Profit Boosts
A boost multiplier that increases the potential payout by for example 30%. Sometimes the market is pre-selected, and sometimes the player receives a Profit Boost Token to apply to any market of their choosing. When using a PBT, hunting down maximum expected value and a low vig gets more important.

SGP Boosts
A Same Game Parlay Boost bundle multiple legs together for even higher potential winnings, but every leg has to hit. These boosts often look appealing, but mathematically, the expected value is low and the risk is high.

Straight Boosts
Straight Boosts apply to a single isolated outcome. With only one variable to consider, this is where you will find your highest mathematical expected value, and the easiest odds to compare.

Maxing Out the Value from Odds Boosts

We clear out some common misconceptions, answer common questions & help our users get the most out of their Odds- & Profit Boosts.

Do I need to know all these tricks to use Odds Boosts?

No! Some of the contents on this page might make it seem like Boosts require you to be some kind of genius, but you don't need to know all the mathematics to use odds boosts effectively.

Bettors can use boosts and make a good profit from them without any prior knowledge or experience. But if you want to get serious about your betting and maximize your potential winnings, it helps a long way to understand
1). What probability the market implies,
2). How the boosted price compares to the normal market price, and
3). Is the bet good enough to justify the boosted odds?

What is EV or Expected Value?

Expected Value (EV) is a highly useful formula that can help bettors figure out if they are likely to win or lose money on a Boost. The formula is:

Expected Value (EV) = (Probability of Winning x Potential Profit) - (Probability of Losing x Stake)

As an example, let's say that a sportsbook offers a boost increasing the odds from +100 to +150. Your estimated probability of winning is 45%, and your stake is $100. At +150, a $100 bet produces $150 profit if it wins.

In this example, your EV is:

  • Win: 45% × $150 = +$67.50
  • Lose: 55% × $100 = −$55
  • EV = +$12.50

So your expected return is +$12.50 per $100 bet, or +12.5% EV. The trickiest part of calculating EV is that you have to estimate your probability of winning yourself.

One useful rule: for positive American odds +X, the break-even probability is 100 / X + 100. So +150 requires only 40% to break even. If you estimate the true probability at 45%, you've got an edge.

Do all sportsbooks have Odds Boosts?

No. While all of the big betting sites that you see in ads, like DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM and Caesars, cater to casual bettors and offer Boosts usually on a daily basis, some smaller sportsbooks and more niche operators that target professional bettors may instead focus on better built-in value in their odds and fewer promotions like Boosts.

Can I Combine a Boosted Straight to make a Parlay?

No, in almost every scenario, the sportsbook will state in their terms that boosted Straight Bets can not be combined with other legs in your betslip.

How to use Arbitrage Hedging with Boosts?

Arbitrage hedging means betting opposite outcomes across two different sportsbooks to lock in a guaranteed profit. Even if only one side is boosted, if the boosted payout is higher than the opposing book's standard line, you can cover both sides and win regardless of the outcome.

What is a Qualifying Bet?

When using an Odds Boost or Profit Boost, there are certain rules stated by the sportsbook that have to be met for your wager to count. If the rules are met, the bet is qualified. If you miss any of the criteria, your Boost will not be applied to the wager. Typical requirements include:

  • Minimum Odds: This ensures some safety for the sportsbook, and that bettors don't tap them dry using the safest bets possible. Example: "Minimum odds of -200 or longer." This means a bet at -150 or +120 qualifies, but a heavy favorite at -250 will be rejected by the system.
  • Min/Max Wager: Boosted Odds always come with minimum and maximum wagers.
  • Minimum Legs (for SGPs): If you claim a Same Game Parlay Boost, the terms normally state a minimum number of legs, typically 3+, for the bet to qualify.
  • Type or Market Specific Boosts: Many boosts have to be used specifically on a certain sport, game or market. The terms may also specify if you are required to place an SGP or a Straight Bet.

We always recommend our users to have a quick glance at the terms and conditions before signing up at a sportsbook or claiming a promotion.

What is a Vig?

In sports betting, the built-in house margin is referred to as the vigorish, or more commonly as the vig or the juice. Every time you place a bet, there is a hidden commission included to make sure that the sportsbook earns a piece of the cut.

Lets look at an example: You find a game in which both teams are placed at -110 odds. -110 odds implies about a 52.4% chance for the team to win. But adding the total percentages together doesn't add up to 100%, it adds up to 104.8%. The remaining 4.8% is the vig.

If you want to calculate the true probability and value of an Odds Boost, you need to first remove the vig from the odds before comparing the boosted odds with the original odds.

How to tell if a Boost is Good or Bad?

Even without knowing all the tricks and calculations, an experienced bettor can usually sort good Boosts from bad ones at a quick glance. Here are some tips if you're aiming to become such a bettor:

  1. Straight Bets over SGPs: Straight Bets have a much higher chance of winning. Boosted Same Game Parlays are more often traps.
  2. If you do end up going for a multi leg boost, look for negative correlation. Sportsbooks love boosting negatively correlated legs because the true odds are much worse than bettors think.
  3. Beware of celebrity parlays: Sportsbooks pay for these brand partnerships to drive mass action into high-margin parlays. They are built for marketing, entertainment and engagement. You will not find value here.
  4. The Min/Max Bet hints at the sportsbook's opinion on the bet. If they are willing to accept huge stakes, the odds are probably not very good. If they have a low max bet, it means that they're playing it safe.
  5. If a sportsbook offers a Boost that is better than the standard price at every other sportsbook you check, it is almost certainly solid. Being a member at multiple sportsbooks can help you compare odds and select the best available Boosts.
Are Odds Boosts for New or Existing Customers?

Odds Boosts do not work like normal sign-up bonuses. They are usually available for every verified account-holder. In some circumstances, like during big sports events, the big betting sites might offer a temporary Welcome Boost as an alternative to their welcome offer, but this is a somewhat rare case and always specified in the terms.

Why did I get Banned or Limited from Boosts?

Sportsbooks use Account Profiling to map out recurring bettors' playing-patterns. If your account displays a habit of:

  • Only betting with promotions and Boosts
  • Always using the max bet for successful wagers
  • Consistently locking in Boosts with significantly better final market odds just before the game starts
  • Constantly cash out your whole balance as soon as you win

You might end up getting flagged as a promo abuser. The consequences of this might be lowered max wagers or even being unable to claim promos. Many experienced bettors try to make a majority of their plays look as casual as possible to avoid this. If your account ends up being flagged or limited, you might be better off trying your luck at another sportsbook.
