Online gambling sites and apps may ask for the last 4 digits of your Social Security Number as a legal requirement by the IRS. It serves many purposes, but it's not for any marketing reasons. Your SSN proves that you are indeed of a legal gambling age, it helps protect players from fraud or identity theft, and it also makes it possible for the IRS to automatically send out the right tax forms to winners.
Are online casinos legal in Michigan?
Uh-huh, online casinos, including slot machines, blackjack and poker, were legalized with the Lawful Internet Gaming Act back in 2021. Most forms of online gambling is now legal in Michigan.
What is the legal gambling age in Michigan?

How much tax do you pay on gambling in Michigan?
Gambling winnings are taxed in Michigan, regardless what type of games they are from. The state tax is a flat 4.25%, taxed as regular income. Federal taxes also apply, and are set at 24%. Both residents and non-residents gambling in Michigan will have to pay tax, but the state tax can sometimes be deducted if winners also need to pay taxes in their home state.
